Did I mention yet that I was at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity this year as a host on the Debussy stage? The event was back in full force following a two-year break (thanks to Covid).
As always, the creativity at Cannes Lions was show-stoppingly good this year. Right here is a round-up of our favourite Grand Prix-winning campaigns – the campaigns that are widely considered to be the best in advertising and marketing in 2022.
Creative Effectiveness – the holy grail at Cannes celebrating creativity & value Michelob Ultra, Contract For Change, by FCB
Creative Business Transformation Dole, Pinatex
This is one of my favourite creative campaigns from this year’s festival. A vegan, cruelty-free leather alternative using the left over stalks and leaves from the pineapple plant.
Glass – We Capital, Data Tienda, DDB Mexico, Mexico City
“Entries will need to demonstrate ideas intended to change the world; work which sets out to positively impact ingrained gender inequality, imbalance or injustice.
The Glass Lion recognises work that implicitly or explicitly addresses issues of gender inequality or prejudice, through the conscious representation of gender in advertising.”
Brand Experience & Activation – Vice World News, The Unfiltered History Tour, by Dentsu Webchutney, Bengaluru and Mumbai
Creative Strategy Grand Prix – Decathlon, The Breakaway, by BBDO Belgium
The Decathlon campaign was awarded at Cannes Lions 2022: Creative Strategy Grand Prix, PR (Public Relations) Grand Prix. as well as D&AD 2022: 1 Silver in Media (Collaboration), 1 Bronze in Gaming (Experiential), 1 Bronze in Digital (Use of XR).
